Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve

Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve is famous for golden sand, turquoise water and four seasons of accommodation, dining, mountain biking, recreation and events. It is also the gateway to the world renowned Abel Tasman National Park and welcomes several hundred thousand visitors each year.

Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve and all of its facilities sit on 250ha of Crown land, governed by a Board appointed by the Minister of Conservation, that operates under a ministerial approved management plan, bylaws, the Reserves Act 1977, the Resource Management Act 1991 and the Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga Act 2014.

I was engaged in 2020 on a two year contract to work with the Reserve’s leadership team and its Board to help improve how the Reserve told its story and engaged with its audience to help it meet its strategic goals. This work included communications support around the development of its spatial plan, conservation and environmental stewardship activity, as well as operational and marketing communications.

As the Reserve’s team progressed with it’s five year plan it was a pleasure to work with them to help ensure the continued prosperity of this highly valued and much loved community asset.
